The Bishops Primary School in Newquay has a Lau Gar class run by Dr Brian McCaldin, 1st degree black sash. This is an after school club for years 7-8 plus in which the children progress at a steady pace and grade at reduced rates. It helps the children with fitness, stamina and co-ordination. Brian is an excellent instructor, his teaching methods are fairly relaxed with the emphasis on building confidence and yet maintaining class discipline. He regularly trains with chief instructor, Bob Denny and has attended a seminar on Lau Gar technique applications. Extra training for the children is offered at the White Dragon School of Kung Fu training HQ, Trenarth Road, Newquay at any time and those children who wish to carry their training further beyond year 11 are positively welcomed.
The Bishops School Summer Fayre on 1 July 2005 saw Brian and a few of his willing students give a demonstration of the white sash syllabus. They did extremely well considering their nervousness and Brian was justly proud of them. This was followed by a further demonstration by senior instructors of the White Dragon School which showed everyone what the young ones could be capable of in a few short years!
Sorry, we are not at liberty to post photos of the children in action on this website at present due to the sensitivity of parents and child protection guidelines.
