Wing Chun Knife Defence Workshop 11 May 2008
Many thanks to all who attended our first workshop of the year. Bob demonstrated how to defend against knife attacks using techniques from Wing Chun kung fu. They also showed students how these related to the beginners forms in Lau Gar. Many forms are learned in a rigid way, and students often do not see beyond the moves, this seminar was useful in showing the different approaches and the flexibility in applications of the styles. Everyone felt that they had learned from the workshop and thoroughly enjoyed the session!

Regan attacking Laura who blocks and counter strikes.

Alan circling around ready to grab the thumb pad of Darren's knife wielding hand. This looks weak, but can be done at such a speed to confuse the attacker and leaves the other hand free to strike.

Iain's arm being manipulated by Steve in readiness to strip the knife.

Kim blocking a slash to the throat by Sarah and counterstriking.

Dan putting pressure on Ross after stripping him of the knife.

Sam stripping the knife after pressuring the elbow joint on Elaine.

Nigel checking Iain's technique on Steve.

Laura feeling the tension placed on her arm by Regan. This technique sends her to her knees and has to be carefully applied, it can be very painful, even on a strong, large man!
